Hello, my name is Brad Pilcher

I'm eclectic, and my interests are myriad. A lifetime of bibliophilia began early for me, and my poor wife keeps wondering when I’ll stop bringing in more bookshelves. A love of visual arts came later, because I wasn’t naturally good at drawing, but one day I discovered a computer. It had Photoshop on it, and I never looked back.

Sitting in a drawer somewhere, there are two liberal arts degrees with my name on them: one in Film & Communications and another in Religious Studies. I’ve rarely put either to use as a writer and publication designer, but I suppose they’re relevant to my other career, helping run the largest Jewish film festival in the world.

So today, I'm just a (mostly) self-taught polymath who somehow landed in a career cobbled together from spare parts and a swiss cheese resume. I like to think it keeps me interesting. It certainly keeps me interested.

I was born on the same day as Chris Pine, who is now playing Captain Kirk. For a few reasons, I'm not entirely happy about this.

Tea and Crumpets
Tea and Crumpets

During the '04 presidential election, I fled to the U.K. via work assignments in London and a girl in Devonshire. My Anglophilia was fueled by tea. Coffee? Dead to me.

I finished both my degrees in 2008, which was 10 years after I started. But I did leave school and came back, so don't judge.

Love of My Life

On October 21, 2012, I married Amy Jill Kolodny. Nothing else in my life matters to me as much as she does.

Sweet, Sweet Sound

My wife came with a sizable collection of vinyl, but no actual record player. I took care of that on Record Store Day 2014. Now collecting is our hobby. Well... one of them.
